I. International Congress of Alternative Poultry and Ornamental birds (IAPOC - 2019)

Agriculture has made important contributions to the development of human civilization. Production and quality have increased with the transfer of science and technology to agricultural production. The increase in urbanization especially with industrialization has increased the demand for agricultural products. In order to meet this demand, production pattern and density have changed. During this period, chickens have come to the fore because of their advantages in meeting animal protein needs of humans. In this period, the production of other poultry was carried out locally for meat, eggs and ornamental purposes. This system of production is called alternative poultry breeding and ornamental poultry breeding. Alternative poultry are important in terms of creating added value for the local economy and contributing to biodiversity. In addition, alternative birds have an important role in the formation of “community memories” and local cultures and sharing of emotions.
In recent years, it is observed that alternative poultry plays a role in the economic, biological and cultural development of developing countries, as also in developed countries. Dissemination by subtracting out the potential of alternative poultry in Turkey has been a need. It is important to address the issue both in national and international platforms through scientific discussions and the participation of stakeholders.

I. International Congress of Alternative Poultry and Ornamental birds was held with the participation of breeders associations and members, sector representatives and researchers from 5* different countries between 8-10 November 2019 in.Antalya /Turkey
We would like to thank the researchers, the representatives of the sector and the producers who participated in the congress with their invited and oral presentations, as well as the audience and thanks to Dr. Mustafa Duman, Researcher Ahmet Uçar and Mustafa Özcan the organizer from CNS Co. Turkey for their intensive efforts in the realization of the congress.
